Women of Words – Writing for Wellbeing Workshop with Mari Gallagher
10.30am - 12.30pm, Keadeen Hotel - Free event but pre-booking required via Eventbrite
Journaling, expressive freewriting, recording memories: time to release that inner scribe with the help of a variety of writing exercises and feel the benefits. No writing experience necessary for this workshop with Mari Gallagher in the Keadeen Hotel, but please bring a notebook and pen.
In this workshop, the inner critic is silenced and words are encouraged to flow onto paper, inspired by a variety of writing exercises. People who journal regularly experience improvement in both physical and mental health. We will freewrite expressively, record memories and journal emotions. Allowing the inner scribe to run free removes writer's block and releases creativity.
Women of Words – Author Denise Deegan on a writer’s life, the importance of curiosity & making mistakes
12.30pm – 1.30pm, Keadeen Hotel - Free event, no booking required
Denise Deegan is a storyteller driven by a curiosity in life and why we do what we do. She writes novels, films and for television, and has lived many lives. Listen to her discuss the importance of failure.
Denise’s novels have been published by Penguin Random House and Hachette and translated widely. She writes women’s fiction under the name Aimee Alexander, her children’s names combined. She writes teen fiction (e.g. the Butterfly Novels), under her own name. Denise also pens film and TV scripts. Her adaptation of her teen novel ‘And For Your Information’ is in development with Treasure Entertainment (Flora and Son).
Denise has been a nurse, china restorer, pharmaceutical sales rep and public relations executive before turning to fiction. Having run her own PR business, she is a great believer in taking control and enjoyed turning to self-publishing when the rights on her novels returned to her. Many of her life swerves were driven by friends asking if she would do something with them.
